Publishing and disseminating knowledge

Since its creation, IREMAM has boasted a long-standing and prolific editorial output, whether it be monographs, collective works or periodicals. The Institute hosts two reference journals, L’Année du Maghreb and the Revue des mondes musulmans et de la Méditerranée (REMMM) and it actively supports several other periodicals in its field. All of these publications are subject to peer review and many of them are now part of the open science movement that targets not only the scientific community but also the wider public.

IREMAM’s Publishing policy

IREMAM’s publishing policy is discussed and defined by its advisory board in line with the Institute’s research teams and cross-disciplinary axes. The unit's steering board acts as its editorial board: it sets up the editorial program, organizes the scientific assessment and distributes the funds allocated to this sector. In this way, it supports and stimulates the publication of research on the Arab and Islamic worlds, with particular attention paid to the work of young researchers. Finally, it takes part in the promotion of this scientific output.
IREMAM encourages the use of open access media and the inclusion of digital technologies in editorial processes. Its main objectives are linked with a digital policy based on Open Access in order to promote editorial forms adapted to new models of dissemination of research data.

Print Publication

IREMAM sets up numerous editorial partnerships with public and private publishing houses as well as research centers abroad (see the publications supported by IREMAM).

Online publication

IREMAM is a member of OpenEdition Books. More than forty books are accessible in full text on this portal of books in the humanities and social sciences (see online publications page) 

Journals

IREMAM handles the editorial secretariat and editorial work of two scientific journals: L’Année du Maghreb and the Revue des mondes musulmans et de la Méditerranée (REMMM), both hosted on Openedition Journal and adopting the Freemium model, thus promoting immediate availability and free dissemination of research data.
In parallel, IREMAM supports the following periodicals in various ways: the antiAtlas Journal, Mondes arabes, Science and Video, and Turcica. Finally, the Encyclopédie Berbère also benefits from the support of the Institute both in its print version and in its digital transition to Open Access (with a moving wall of 5 fascicles).
